On June 30, 2026, the European Commission formally adopted Implementing Regulation C(2026) 4428 final, adding Chlorpyrifos (CAS No.: 2921-88-2) to Part A of Annex I of the EU Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation ((EU) 2019/1021, referred to as the POPs Regulation).

The regulation sets a clear limit of 0.01 mg/kg (0.000001% by weight) for chlorpyrifos as an Unintentional Trace Contaminant (UTC) in substances, mixtures and articles. Only products meeting or below this threshold are eligible for the exemption under Article 4(1)(b).

This regulation shall enter into force on the 20th day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and shall be directly binding on all EU Member States.
