According to the data released by the Russian Federal Customs Service in June 2026, Russia's green tea import market has experienced explosive growth in the first half of 2026: the import volume increased by 38% year-on-year, and the import value increased by 45% year-on-year, showing a trend of "volume and price double growth".
Among all green tea import sources, China's green tea imports accounted for more than 60% of Russia's total green tea imports, becoming the largest source of green tea imports in Russia, with a dominant market position.
The main varieties of Chinese green tea imported by Russia are Gunpowder tea and Chunmee tea, which are favored by Russian consumers for their high cost performance, mellow taste, and easy brewing.
In recent years, with the continuous improvement of living standards in Russia, consumers' awareness of health preservation has increased significantly, and their consumption preferences have also undergone great changes: green tea, as a natural, healthy, and sugar-free beverage, has gradually replaced traditional black tea and become the first choice of many Russian consumers, especially young people and middle-aged and elderly people.
The surge in Russia's green tea imports has provided a new growth point for Chinese green tea export enterprises. To further expand the Russian market, enterprises can optimize product packaging to meet the consumption habits of Russian consumers, strengthen brand promotion through local media and e-commerce platforms, and develop personalized products such as flavored green tea and small-pack green tea to meet the diverse needs of Russian consumers.
