Tongren matcha breaks Japan's monopoly, becoming the number one exporter in China

In 2025, a cargo ship carrying 16 tons of Tongren matcha entered Yokohama Port, Japan, marking the first large-scale export of Chinese matcha to Japan and breaking Japan's long-standing dominance in the high-end matcha market. That same year, Guizhou Tongren matcha entered markets in 54 countries and regions, maintaining its position as the top exporter in China. Guizhou Matcha Group built the world's largest single-unit matcha refining workshop, with its continuous ball mill production line boasting a daily output more than 400 times that of traditional stone mills, achieving a powder fineness of 1000 mesh (approximately 13 microns), far exceeding the international standard of 800 mesh. Tongren matcha production and sales have seen a step-by-step increase over the past three years-1000 tons in 2023, 1200 tons in 2024, and a jump to 2500 tons in 2025, with a projected output exceeding 5000 tons in 2026.
