High-altitude tea suits the young consumer demographic in North Africa
Tea gardens situated at altitudes above 800 meters benefit from significant day-night temperature differences, causing the tea plants to accumulate higher levels of amino acids and lower proportions of tea polyphenols, resulting in a brew with minimal bitterness or astringency. While traditional North African tea preparation involves adding large amounts of sugar cubes to mask bitterness, the growing preference among local youth for lower-sugar options has driven a steady rise in demand for high-altitude Chunmee tea. Such high-quality raw material is primarily used for the premium "41022 Special Chunmee" grade, catering mainly to local specialty tea shops and cafés.
