Africa's green tea industry has experienced explosive growth over the past decade, driven by increasing global demand for healthy, natural beverages. Between 2015 and 2025, the continent's green tea production grew at an average annual rate of 12%, a remarkable increase compared to the global average of 7.5%.
Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are the leading producers of green tea in Africa, accounting for over 80% of the continent's total green tea output. These countries have invested heavily in green tea production, expanding their plantations and modernizing their processing facilities to meet global quality standards.
A key factor driving this growth is the increasing popularity of organic green tea, with African countries leveraging their favorable climate and abundant labor to produce organic green tea at a competitive price.
Today, Africa's green tea is exported to over50 countries worldwide, including the European Union, the United States, China, and the Middle East, with export volumes and values steadily increasing year over year.
