Data show that in the first half of the year, the Jintang Port Area of the Ningbo–Zhoushan Port handled 1.4951 million TEUs of import and export containers, reaching a record high for the same period and up 23.4% year on year.
Since the beginning of this year, cargo exports from the Jintang Port Area have maintained steady growth while improving in quality, with electromechanical products remaining the mainstay and the "new three major exports" emerging as key drivers. As the export mix continues to optimize, the port's network of trading partners keeps expanding. In the first half, the area added 17 new international trade routes to destinations including the Red Sea and Africa, bringing the total number of routes to over 60 major ports across 33 countries and regions.
As the network of international trade routes continues to expand, the port's throughput capacity and cargo-handling capabilities have been steadily upgraded. Since the beginning of this year, ten "megaship" calls have been handled, with each vessel completing the loading and unloading of over 10,000 TEUs, setting a new annual record for the number of such operations at the terminal.
To further unlock the terminal's productive capacity, eight additional cantilever‑free automated rail-mounted gantry cranes were commissioned this year, bringing the share of automated large‑scale equipment to 72.7 percent and enhancing the port's overall throughput and competitive edge.
