Limits and risk
The table is a limited-window FAK announcement subject to eligibility and further charges. It does not fix every booking price, outport cost or delivered tea margin.
What changed
The 40-foot dry/high-cube benchmarks include US$5,500 to Casablanca and US$6,900 to Algeria, with separate Libya and Tunisia levels. The announced window starts 19 October and ends no later than 31 October.
HOUTU TEA market reading
The notice distinguishes included fuel and emission-area elements from additional charges and conditions. HOUTU TEA's reading is that a headline rate must be reconciled rather than supplemented blindly with every familiar surcharge. North African tea buying also depends on product specifications and retail economics; the most useful commercial comparison is the complete delivered offer for the exact destination, not the lowest regional ocean figure.
Procurement decision
Request a written charge breakdown from the booking party, including port-to-port scope, outport additions and any applicable carbon, risk or terminal lines. Identify which elements are already within the announced benchmark. For price-sensitive green-tea programmes, allocate the confirmed transport total across the actual net load and retail pack count. Keep quote expiry visible when agreeing production and loading dates with the factory.
Buyer action checklist
- Budget each named destination separately
- Identify included fuel and emission charges
- Check additional lines and outport scope
- Reconfirm rates if loading falls outside the window
Illustrative order scenario - not an actual transaction
A seller quoting identical tea to Casablanca and an Algerian port should keep separate transport cost sheets. The benchmark gap may explain part of the offer difference, but only the confirmed booking breakdown establishes the actual amount. Reusing one destination's allowance can underprice the second order or distort the supplier comparison.
The buying implications above are HOUTU TEA analysis, not statements by the source. Use this update to request comparable offers, not as a live price quotation. Keep the approved sample, batch specification, testing scope, packing details and shipment terms together before authorising a purchase. Where regulation is involved, the importer should verify the applicable product and destination requirements before shipment.
