Affected by the continued deterioration of the situation in the Black Sea and escalating security risks in the Middle East, global shipping giant Maersk has once again adjusted its regional transport network. On July 22, Maersk announced the indefinite suspension of its service to the port of Chormorsk, Ukraine, and also suspended bookings for some Red Sea-Middle East land transport routes to reduce regional security risks and ensure the safety of cargo transportation.

In addition to the Black Sea, Maersk is also simultaneously adjusting its Middle East transport network. On July 22, Maersk announced the suspension of bookings for several land transport routes involving the Red Sea and the Gulf region, including:

Transportation services from the UAE and Qatar via Jeddah and Oman ports;

Transportation services from Jeddah to the UAE, Oman, and Qatar;

Land transport services from Salalah and Sohar ports to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.

Industry insiders believe that as the security situation in the two key shipping regions, the Black Sea and the Red Sea, continues to deteriorate, international liner companies are constantly adjusting their route layouts and transport plans to reduce the security risks faced by personnel and cargo.

For cargo owners, the future of goods in the relevant areas may face situations such as port changes, increased transshipment, longer transit times, and increased inland transportation costs. They should pay close attention to the latest notices from shipping companies and make transportation plans and supply chain arrangements in advance.
