Huangda Tea Technology Empowers Tea Farmers to Earn an Extra 2,000 Yuan Per Mu
Professor Ning Jingming's team at Anhui Agricultural University has focused their research on Huangda tea-a major category of summer and autumn tea. Unlike spring tea, which is harvested in a short period, Huangda tea can be harvested from around the beginning of summer until after the Grain in Ear season, significantly increasing the utilization rate of the tea leaves. A tea company in western Anhui used Huangda tea as raw material to collaborate with a well-known beverage brand, directly boosting the sales of 21 tons of dried tea-4.5 jin of fresh leaves are used to make one jin of dried tea, equivalent to consuming nearly 200,000 jin of fresh leaves, allowing tea farmers to earn an extra 2,000 yuan per mu. The team proposed four major development strategies: a comprehensive green production system, a standardized tea garden management system oriented towards mechanized harvesting, an industrial tea processing system, and establishing a regional public brand.
