In recent years, as the concept of drinking tea for health has become more and more popular, even young people have begun to "roll tea". Whether they are preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination or working hard, a cup of refreshing tea is always on their desk!

As one of the three major health beverages in the world, tea not only has common health benefits such as refreshing and anti-radiation. The relationship between tea drinking and cancer has always been a hot topic that has attracted much attention.

Recently, CCTV's literary and artistic video, which is affiliated with China Central Radio and Television, popularized the fact that tea polyphenols, which are rich in green tea, especially epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), have the effect of preventing oral cancer!

According to He Li, a researcher at the Nutrition Institute of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, tea polyphenols are the most effective ingredients in tea. Among the six major types of tea in China, green tea is recognized to have the highest content of tea polyphenols! This is not difficult to understand, because green tea is made through high-temperature withering, rolling, drying and other processes, and is not fermented during the production process, which allows a large amount of natural substances in the tea to be retained. Tea polyphenols account for more than 85% of the fresh leaves.

Catechins, which account for 60% to 80% of the total tea polyphenols, are the most important among tea polyphenols, and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is one of the key components of catechins.
According to teacher He Li's popular science, the EGCG rich in green tea can prevent white spots on the oral mucosa. Oral white spots are one of the significant symptoms of pre-cancer of the oral cavity and have a certain tendency to malignant transformation. In severe cases, they may develop into oral cancer.

Therefore, He Li believes that the view that "drinking green tea helps prevent oral cancer" is tenable! Domestic clinical medical trials have also confirmed that polyphenols in green tea can reduce the content of cancer-related biomarkers in the body!

However, it is foolish to talk about efficacy without considering dosage. If you drink too much green tea in order to get enough tea polyphenols, you will also take in a lot of caffeine and other substances, which will cause symptoms that are not good for your health, such as frequent urination, urgency, and accelerated heartbeat.
Therefore, don't drink tea blindly just for the sake of efficacy! Drinking green tea should also be done in moderation.
